Two Lower Body Strength Exercise Examples

This video outlines the key coaching points for the Romanian deadlift (RDL) and Bulgarian squat.

 

Firstly the RDL which when performed safely is a great high level hamstring rehabilitation exercise.  This eccentric, and concentric exercise is important for the hamstring as it incorporates a strong hip extension component while in a lengthened position.  A great exercise to minimize reinjury risk.

 

Secondly the Bulgarian exercise is another great exercise for lower limb loading.  Due to specific functional positioning (similar to the running position) neuromuscular pathways are activated for greater strength gains and joint protection.  Always a great late stage rehab option.
